TikTok Analytics: Understanding Your Dashboard
TikTok Analytics is your command center for growth. It provides enormous data about content performance, audience behavior, and account health.
How to Access TikTok Analytics
Switch to Creator or Business account under Settings > Privacy > Account. Tap Analytics from the menu.
- Need a Creator or Business account to access analytics.
- Data updates daily within 24 hours.
- View data for last 7, 28, or 60 days.
- Video-level analytics for videos posted in last 7 days.
The Overview Tab
- Video views: Total views across all videos. Top-line growth metric.
- Profile views: Correlates with content discovery success.
- Follower count: Net follower growth.
- Content views: Breakdown by video type.
The Content Tab
Shows detailed data for each recent video:
- Total play time: Cumulative watch time. Higher is better.
- Average watch time: Compare to video length for completion rate.
- Traffic source: For You, Search, Profile, or other.
- Audience territories: Geographic breakdown of viewers.
Understanding Traffic Sources
- For You: Aim for 70%+ from FYP.
- Search: Aim for 10-20% from search.
- Profile: High profile views indicate strong brand interest.
- If FYP drops below 50%, content may need optimization.
Key Metrics to Track Weekly
- Completion rate: Aim for 50%+. Below 30% needs better hooks.
- Engagement rate: (Likes + Comments + Shares) / Views. Aim for 5%+.
- Share rate: High shares indicate viral potential.
- Watch time: Longer watch time = more algorithmic boost.
Using Analytics to Improve
- Identify top 3 videos monthly and analyze common patterns.
- Identify bottom 3 videos. Eliminate those patterns.
- Track best posting times based on follower activity data.
- Monitor traffic sources. If search views are low, invest in SEO.
